SCR 51: NEW MEMORIAL PARK IN CONROE
Austin, TX –  Senator Creighton made the following statement after the Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs & Border Security passage of Senate Concurrent Resolution 51:

“We owe a debt of gratitude to the men and women who have sacrificed so much in service to our nation,” said Senator Creighton. “I appreciate the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Commission in their effort to ensure that these American heroes are remembered for years to come.”

SCR 51 urges the Texas Department of Transportation, the Texas Historical Commission, the Texas Veterans Commission and all other appropriate state agencies to offer support to the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Commission in its mission to establish a new veterans memorial in Conroe.

“I am proud of my constituents for their vision and leadership on this much needed project,” said Senator Creighton. “God Bless our veterans and let us continue to pay tribute to their service.”

Jimmie C. Edwards, former Texas State Representative, United States Marine Corps (Retired), former Montgomery County Judge and current Chairman of the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Commission stated, “This park represents the dedication and sacrifice of veterans in all wars, from all walks of life, and all parts of Montgomery County. These veterans and their families salute Senator Creighton.”

SCR 51 passed the Veteran Affairs & Border Security Committee yesterday with a unanimous vote. The Committee also recommended the resolution be recommended for the Local & Uncontested Calendar.
