Senator Creighton Receives Committee Assignments for the 85th Legislative Session

Reappointed Vice Chairman of Senate Committee on Business and Commerce

AUSTIN, TX — Today, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick announced his list of Senate Committee appointments for the 85th Legislative Session, naming Senator Brandon Creighton (R-Conroe) to the following committees:  

  • Senate Committee on Business and Commerce, Vice-Chairman  
  • Senate Committee on Agriculture, Water, and Rural Affairs  
  • Senate Committee on Criminal Justice 
  • Senate Committee on State Affairs; and,  
  • Senate Committee on Transportation

“I greatly appreciate Lt. Gov. Patrick for reappointing me to serve on these powerful committees and for the opportunity to continue my work on Texas ports with the new appointment to the Senate Transportation Committee. We have an important job in planning for the future growth of our state to keep Texas moving,” said Senator Creighton. “Serving on these committees will allow Senate District 4 a priority seat at the table in addressing some of the most pressing issues we currently face in Texas. Each will consider proposed legislation to best address the needs of our great state.”

During the 84th Legislative Session, he served on Senate Committees on Agriculture and Water, State Affairs, Criminal Justice, and as Vice Chair of Business and Commerce. Senator Creighton was also the Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Texas Ports in the 84th interim.

“Water infrastructure and supply are major issues for the families of southeast Texas. Knowing that Senate District 4 prioritizes a long-term sustainable water supply, I am eager to be in a position to advocate on their behalf for the preservation and further development of our natural resources.”

Senator Creighton was reappointed the Vice-Chairman of the Senate Committee on Business and Commerce, which is tasked with overseeing the business, insurance, and regulatory industries including our electric grid in our state.

 “I look forward to continue using my first-hand experience as a businessman, rancher, and former House Representative to press ahead with our efforts to keep Texas the success story of our nation,” continued Senator Creighton. “Today’s appointments are another victory for the citizens’ of southeast Texas, who will have a strong advocate serving them in the Texas Senate. I appreciate the trust Lt. Gov. Patrick has shown by allowing the 4th district of Texas to hold these appointments. I am ready to go to work.”

During his tenure as Senator, he has taken the lead on key issues that matter to Texas job creators including franchise and property tax relief, water and transportation infrastructure, and border security. He was first elected to the Texas Senate during a special election in August 2014. Prior to his election to the Texas Senate, Senator Creighton served as State Representative for House District 16. Throughout his legislative career, his priorities have distinguished him as a genuine defender of conservative values.

SENATOR BRANDON CREIGHTON represents District 4, which encompasses parts of Montgomery, Harris, Chambers, Jefferson and Galveston Counties.
