JOIN ME AND TAKE A STAND FOR TEXAS SOVEREIGNTY

CREIGHTON PASSES TENTH AMENDMENT RESOLUTION

April 12, 2017

SCR 3: Texas Sovereignty under Tenth Amendment
Austin, TX –  Today, Senator Brandon Creighton (R-Conroe) made the following statement after the Senate passage of his signature state sovereignty legislation, Senate Concurrent Resolution 3:

“SCR 3 is a strong and necessary assertion of Texas’ sovereignty,” said Senator Creighton. “We will not be silent and allow our rights to be infringed upon by the federal government.”

The Tenth Amendment to the United States Constitution states, ‘The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.’

“Regardless of politics in Washington, D.C., Texas must fight to preserve its rights as a state,” concluded Creighton.

Senator Creighton has received national acclaim for Tenth Amendment issues during his legislative career. Last session, this legislation passed the Senate as SCR 1 with a vote of 20-11, but was left pending in the  House.

SCR 3 passed out of the Senate with a vote of 20-11. Next, it will be sent to the Texas House of Representatives.
