Texas state Sen. Brandon Creighton (R-Conroe) expressed his deep concern at President Obama’s latest edict, delivered in a joint letter from the Departments of Justice and Education.

“Texans are numb to the persistent and forceful encroachment on personal liberties and state’s rights by the federal government, which are guaranteed under the 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution,” Creighton said. “President Obama’s most recent overreach, which obliterates the protections of single-sex bathrooms for American schoolchildren, has drawn Texans’ disgust for simultaneously undermining a state’s right to decide such issues and placing Texas school children at risk. While he has rarely shown any accountability to the American people, President Obama has entered a new level of disregard for the Constitution in the final months of his tenure. I stand with Governor Abbott and Lt. Governor Dan Patrick in opposing this mandate and taking a stand for Texans’ right to protect our children.”

Creighton represents District 4, which encompasses Chambers, Jefferson and parts of Montgomery, Harris and Galveston Counties. He currently serves on the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Water and Rural Affairs, the Senate Committee on Criminal Justice, the Senate Committee on State Affairs, as the vice-chairman of the Senate Committee on Business and Commerce, and chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Texas Ports.
